What we store on your device

Your customers' names, phone numbers, addresses, and every udhaar/jama transaction you record are stored only on your own device, in a local database. This data is not uploaded to any server as part of normal use.

Shop information

Your shop name, owner name, and phone number are stored in our backend (Firebase) so your Premium subscription status can sync to your account.

Contacts access

If you use "Import from contacts" when adding a customer, the app only reads the single contact you pick (name and phone number) to fill in the form. It does not read, store, or upload your full contact list.

Camera

The camera is used only when you choose to attach a photo of a bill/receipt to a transaction. Photos are saved locally on your device.

GST / Excel export (Premium)

Generating a GST/Excel report sends your ledger data to our backend once, to build the file, which is returned to you directly. It is not kept on our servers afterward.

Payments

Premium subscription payments are processed entirely by Razorpay or Google Play Billing, depending on which option you choose at checkout. We do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank account details ourselves — payment details are handled directly by Razorpay or Google, per their own privacy policies.

Account

The app signs you in anonymously to link your device to your shop and subscription status. We do not require your name, email, or a password to use the app.

Data retention & deletion

Customer records, transactions, and bill photos live only in your device's local storage — uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of this data. Shop information stored in our backend (shop name, owner name, phone number, and subscription status) is kept only for as long as you use the app. To request deletion of this backend record, email smartkhatamanger@gmail.com from the same context as your shop (or provide your shop/owner details) and we will delete it within a reasonable time. Ledger data briefly uploaded to generate a GST/Excel export (Premium) is not retained after the file is returned to you.

What we don't do

We don't use advertising or analytics tracking, and we don't sell your data to third parties.

Acceptable use

Smart Khata is provided as a ledger and customer-communication tool for legitimate business record-keeping. You agree not to use the app to harass, threaten, or intimidate any person; to send spam or unsolicited bulk messages; or to send messages, requests, or links for any fraudulent, deceptive, or unlawful purpose. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any account found to violate this policy.

Your responsibility for messages and links

Every WhatsApp message you send through the app is composed and dispatched by you, to a recipient of your choosing — we do not send anything automatically on your behalf without your action. You are solely responsible for the content and accuracy of any message or link you generate and send, and for complying with all applicable laws in how you use it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Smart Khata, its developers, and affiliates from any claim, loss, damage, or liability arising from messages or links you send using the app.
